HP has released two new videos featuring the new HP Slate. For those who don’t know, the “Slate” is a tablet PC from HP that runs Windows 7.

The new video shows HP Slate using Adobe Air apps like flash ( that its opponent iPad lacks). So here are the videos

Press windows key and then press “U” twice to shutdown

Press Windows key and then press “Right arrow” thrice and U to shut down

Press Windows key and then press right arrow thrice and R to restart

Press Windows key then press right arrow thrice and L to logoff

To celebrate the arrival of spring season, Microsoft has added a  new theme called “Czech Spring” to its Personalization Gallery. Czech Spring contains some amazing wallpapers to spruce up your desktop. So go ahead and download the theme for free from here. Note that they are for Windows 7 only.

Opera has released the final version of its Opera browser. With the new Office like menu bar and transparent look, the user interface has certainly become more linear and provide larger screen space than any other browser. Other important additions are

Opera says that this is the fastest browser in the planet. Whether this release will do any good to increase the market share of Opera is to be found out.

After lot of speculations on whether Windows Mobile 6.5 devices can be upgraded to the new Windows Phone 7 Series, Microsoft has confirmed that you will not be able to do that. The reason – most of the 6.5 devices doesn’t meet the (very) strict guidelines that Microsoft has imposed for its new phone software.

That’s the official line from Microsoft, at any rate. Natasha Kwan, General Manager for Microsoft’s Mobile Communications Business in the Asia-Pacific region, told APC that the HD2 “doesn’t qualify because it doesn’t have the three buttons”.

HTC’s slick HD2 smartphone seems to have most of what Microsoft wants in a
Windows Phone 7 device, except for two buttons too many…

Not that Microsoft is singling our the HD2 as a phone or even HTC as a manufacturer. “Because we have very specific requirements for Windows Phone 7 Series the current phones we have right now will not be upgradable”, Kwan explained.
